What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Members: we keep a record of our members’ names and addresses, as we have a legal obligation to hold a membership register. Members’ names will be publicly available in the statutory books and can be accessed by anyone upon a valid request. We also keep a record of our members’ email addresses as we have a legitimate interest in communicating with our members with matters regarding their membership (for example General Meetings and invitations to events exclusive to members).
Subscribers: we keep a record of the names and email addresses of people who have explicitly opted, via our website, to receive general information on the activities of Norwich Community Solar. We anticipate that these emails will be sent out on a monthly basis, at most, and you have the right to request that you are removed from this mailing list at any time.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
We use MailChimp to send out our Members and Supporters emails. We do not share your data with any other organisation. You can view Mail Chimp’s privacy policy here.
How long we retain your data
We retain your data indefinitely, until you ask to be removed from our mailing list (in the case of Supporters) or you cease to be a member. All of our Supporters emails will include an ‘unsubscribe’ option.
What rights you have over your data
Under data protection legislation you have the right to: request access to your personal information; ask for errors to be corrected; restrict how your information is used; object to how it is processed; or request that your data is deleted. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioners Office if you are not happy with how your data is processed.
